We are hereby showing you the excursion programme through the Istrian Slovenia with the visit to the most ancient area between the historical localities of Slovenia; Kopar, the coffee roasting and the domestic brewery, with coffee and beer tasting, lunch and live music included.
The Slovenian Istria in short:
The Slovenian Istria is situated between the karts borderline at East, the Adriatic sea at West, and St. Jernej’s gulf at North, close to the Italian border and the estuary of Dragonja river on the South, where it confines with Croatia. This area is very well inhabited and it has a good infrastructure and well developed economic activities.
The Istrian Slovenian territory encircles mostly the Šavrini Mounts or the Šavrinija, made of mounts with many hills and valleys with sinuous streams. It is decorated by the many olive groves, vineyards, orchards and other plantations. On the Northern mounts there are many woods, and on the sea there are salt pans. Even though it could seem homogeneous, this area is full of diversities. It is divided in the marine area, the Šavrini mounts, Bržanija and the karts edge. The inhabited area of Šavrinija is characterized by dense residential areas built on mounts and little villas called "kažete" or rows of houses. The sub-Mediterranean climate of the Šavrinian mounts is the warmest of Slovenia. Thanks to such a climate the littoral areas have mild winters and warm summers. And the more we are moving away from the coastline towards East, the more we begin to feel the continental climate.
The culinary art of Istria consists of simple, but very diverse and healthy food. During a time when health is really the most important issue, this cuisine is particularly praised.
The developed region of Istria and its historical variety, going well together with flavours and fragrances of nature since the antiquity, is for gourmets a marvellous experience of Istrian cuisine.
